For the first time ever, I have decided to nominate my Woman of the Year.
It was a hard decision. I scoured news sites in search of someone deserving of this accolade. Yes, there were the usual suspects of impressive women (like Oprah, Michelle Obama, or Julia Gillard) but I wanted to honour a lesser known woman.
And then I found the perfect winner. May I introduce you to Andrea Elliot.
According to WHIOTV, Andrea Elliot is a 44-year-old woman from Ohio. Not a celebrity, she seems to have kept out of the public eye for most of her life. That is, until 10th August this year.
On this fateful evening Ms Elliot was apparently “drunk and disorderly” when police were called to the scene.
When the police tried to handcuff and arrest her, Ms Elliot did something that made her thoroughly deserving of this award. It was something so remarkably ingenious that the rest of us can only kneel at her feet in admiration.
So, what did she do whilst being arrested?
She phoned 911 for help.
Yes. I know. Whilst being arrested by the police, she phoned the police for help.
Bravo, Andrea Elliot, bravo! You, madam, are a problem solver.
So everyone, when you celebrate New Year’s Eve this Friday, please take a moment to raise your glass and give a quiet toast to Andrea Elliot – my Woman of the Year.
ha ha ha ha ha ha :)
I know! And I love the mugshot. Tidy work.
