What a week. I apologise for only posting once, but after Monday I couldn’t think of anything humourous to say.
Like most Australians, I’ve been glued to my TV and news websites as the horrors of the Queensland floods became terrifyingly apparent.
The town of my birth was one of the hardest hit. My parents were living there when the last flood struck in 1974. In fact, my mum was 6 months pregnant at the time. Imagine that.
It made me feel extremely sad. And as each horror story came to light - like the 13-year-old boy who sacrificed himself to save his younger brother – my heart broke anew. I feel so sorry for every victim.
Also during this time, blogger Lori from Random Ramblings of a Stay at Home Mum lost her husband in a terrible accident. I’ve never met her, but she has 2 young children who have just lost their beloved father. You may have noticed that I’ve added a widget to my blog (see below) that is helping to raise money for her and her young family. Please give if you can.
Also a few days ago, my friend had to spend a night in hospital. She’s 7 months pregnant. She fine now but it was a worrying episode she really didn’t need.
Added to all this, my dad is in the midst of a health scare. In fact, he’s in hospital having surgery as I write this. I’m sure he’ll be fine – he’s otherwise fit and healthy – but it’s still frightening. He’s my dad and I adore him.
So during the past week I couldn’t think of anything funny to say. Nothing at all. Aside from personal dramas, the flooding has been a dark, scary and sad period for Australia. My heart goes out to all affected.
Anyway, I shall post my silly ramblings again very soon. I may even include a photo of me! How’s that for a teaser! Even though I’m sure the anticipation will be unbearable, please do try and get some sleep until then, people.
And stay safe. x

Yes it’s been terrible. I cried when I saw the floods on tv. Such devastation and misery. I hope your dad is OK.
